Week 8 and 9 Homework

Here is our homework for the next two weeks. With camps making school life a little crazy, we have had a week off from homework but time to crack back into it.

Dogs

Dogs Did you know that a greyhound can reach a speed up to 45 miles per hour . And there are over 150 dog breeds in the world . Dogs come in all kinds of sizes ,colours shapes,and breeds dogs have really sharp,jagged teeth . Dogs can be different colours such as black,white and brown. Dogs have four legs,two eyes they can see better than humans,a nose if the dogs noses are dry that means something is wrong with your dog .Their noses are wet because they pick up moisture. Dogs have a tail so that it would prevent them from falling over on sharp turns or when they are swimming . Dogs are used for many different things like acting dogs,guide dogs are used for people that are blind to help cross roads and help them shop . There are also rescue dogs. Rescue dogs help people that are trapped in an avalanche or in the bush. Police also use dogs for work . They only use one breed of dog which is a German shepherd. They use the German Shepard because they are one of the biggest breed of dogs and there sense of smell is better than ours. Police use dogs to hunt down people because they can follow people's scent a long way. There are a lot of ways to look after a dog like ,feeding it,giving ti water ,picking up the poo ,taking your dog for walks around the park ,washing your dog and patting your dog is also important. You also have to take your dog to the vet or your dog has a chance of getting fleas or something more serious. In conclusion, now you know most things you need to know about dogs, such as what physical characteristics dogs have,what dogs are used for and how to look after a dog . Therefore dogs are men's best friend

What Dogs Look Like
A dog has two eyes, four legs and sharp teeth. And they also have claws. They use their tail for showing how they feel, if their tail is wagging then it means they are happy and if their tail is between their legs then it means they are scared. Their noses are always wet because it is how they cool off because they can not sweat like humans do.

Uses for Dogs
Rescue dogs help people from the snow and from ice. Hunting dogs hunt for deer wild boar and wild pigs Farm dogs bark at sheep to tell them to hurry up and move. Guard dogs guard people's houses. Dogs are very playful sometimes but some dogs are not so playful and can bit you. Sniffer dogs can sniff bags to see if there are any drugs in them . You can pat dogs and hug dogs to show them that you love them. Dogs are warm blooded and they are type of mammals . Husky's pull sleds in snow.

 In conclusion dogs are the best pets because they can help their owner with things and they are cute.

Swimming Success!

We have been working hard this term on our basic swimming skills and our freestyle and backstroke styles. We have been learning to skull and tread water just in case we are in deep water and need to survive until help comes. Our freestyle foci have been around our arms, breathing and kicking. With backstroke, we have been focusing on keeping our tummys up, chins up, arms close to our ears and going in a straight line. Check out our videos!

My Reading Race

For my reading race I have picket Ella the Thumbelina Fairy for my chapter book and for my text that I have no idea about I picket a book called Quail and Other Galliforms . Ella the Thumbelina Fairy is a rainbow magic books. It is written by Daisy Meadows . This book is about Rachel & Kirsty going to the weatherbury Storytelling Fesival . Meeting Ella the Thumbelina Fairy helping her get her magic object back from Jack Frost. I picket this book because I love Fairys so I wanted to keep reading them again . I picket a book about the Quail because I wanted to to learn more about it . I had hear about the Quail before and all I knew was that it was a bird . This book is about Quails and other Galliforms . Reading race My fiction book is BIRDS it is by Scott Fetzer company in Chicago. I have chosen this book because I don't know me h about birds so want to learn more. My non-fiction book is a Puffin New Zealand story book it is edited by Gwen Gawith, the book has poems and short stories written by different authors. I chose this because it looks interesting.

READING RACE COURTNEY The first book I would like to talk about is the non fiction book I chose it's called FOSSIL I chose this book because I wanted to know more about fossils and maybe were to find them. Another reason I chose this book is to be able to understand more about them as well. My other book I chose is a book called THE ENCHANTED WOOD as soon as I saw it o wanted to know more about it, it looked interesting and like an adventurous book and those are the sort of books I like. Then I read the blurb which is the back of the book and wow I had to get this book! So these are reasons I got these two books.
